Haerul
Haerul is a desert region of Mothnial in Mothdao. It has a characteristic river flowing through it which is Nile like. The river is also called the Nila, because I think it’s kind of funny to lean into seemingly derivative names while actually being completely original. It is pretty much the only place with civilisation in Mothnial. This river’s sources are incredibly fresh springs that come from some mountains.
The entirety of the Haerul population lives around the Nila river. The most populous region is the delta.
Name Origin
Unfortunately for me, this place’s name seems derivative. But, it is based in the Gazish language and in words that were pre-existing (sometimes I make new words for these place name origins). Given the description of the place, the name comes from ‘Nihal le Paerula’ which translates to ‘Desert’s River’, ‘Nihal’ meaning ‘Desert’, ‘le’ being some sort of gramatical principle, and ‘Paerula’ meaning River. Although I could have shortened it in another way, nothing really worked especially in an ouranxised manner other than taking the ‘h’ from ‘Niha Le’ and slapping it on ‘Paerula’. Annoyingly, the name of the river itself could be “Nila” from the first and last syllable of the word.
I struggle to think of alternate names.
