Wastelife's Regions
A region in Wastelife is a geo-cultural land grouping; defined in both geographical and cultural terms. They are not static, especially at the borders. The scale of regions varies wildly. Regions are often further divided into sub-regions which are sometimes larger than other regions themselves.
Wastelife consists of seven distinct continents and one ocean. The continents are not connected by any land bridge and are usually separated by deep ocean. The ocean is often divided into subsections based on what continents it is in-between.
Continents
Barogate
Barogate is the main continent of the setting which has received the most attention and development. It is split into two sections: the arid “wastes” and the wet “lifeland”. The lifeland is known for harbouring powerful nations and large populations. The wastes are also populated, if sparsely, and are generally ungovernable by the larger empires.
Barogate is primarily the home of the following species and sub-species.
Anula
Anula is directly adjacent to Barogate separated by the long Anlyrer straight. It is geographically dominated by the Calaeddodd mountain range in its centre, and several large rivers that run radially from this central high-point.
Anula is primarily dominated by the Dos peoples.
It is also the primary home of the Cut and Akiiogan, as well as having a large Ews nation.
Mothdao
Mothdao is a large continent to the west of Barogate. It has the largest arid desert on the planet, known as Mothnial. The desert takes a central position in the continent, and is flanked by Racum Tembusan to the north and Rancal Remporn.
Mothdao is the home of the following species.
Annwvyn
Annwvyn is a large continent to the east of Barogate. The sea in-between the two, Rahoamor, is notoriously hostile. Unlike with the other continents, there is little travel between Annwvyn and Barogate.
Annwvyn’s characterised by its large interior oceans, colossal mountain range, and the hottest desert on the planet.
The continent is primarily inhabited by Gan, and also has larger populations of Deg and Ryr.
Ouranxo
Ouranxo is a continent to the north-west of Barogate. It is a temperate and cold continent that has not received much development. It is mostly inhabited by Ryr.
Raixzer
Raixzer is a continent to the south-west of Barogate. It has not received much development. It is the home of the Ran peoples.
Elvas Eldu
Elvas Eldu is a colossal continent to the south. It is at least the size of Mothdoa, Barogate, and Annwvyn combined. It is dominated by its southern ice sheets and inhospitable tundra. It has not received much development, and is primarily the home of the Ryr people.
