Dithas

Dithas is a region in the northern Wastes. For a region in the so-called Wastes, it’s incredibly vibrant and lively. It is a mixed forest, where the land is shared between mushroom trees and bark trees.

Dithas is generally seen as a “light Vugaix” since it shares a heap sum of its biodiversity with Vugaix, while lacking some of the more frightening creatures. Much like Vugaix, silver ruins are also ever present in the region, mostly scattered near the small mountain range cutting through Dithas’ centre.

Geography and climate

The ground is wet on the coast but much drier inland. The ground is somewhat infertile, with the growth of new plants supported by certain fungi and the dead bodies of fauna and flora. Dithas’ mountains rise to about 1600m and cause three major river systems in the region:

  • Mepheisatha
  • Yphofth
  • Cyrox

At the mouth of each of these river systems are deforested and productive colonial frontiers. The mix between giant mushroom and tree growth causes unique mineral compositions downstream. In combination with climate differences due to rain shadow and winds, the ends of these rivers can grow wildly different plants.

The eastern shores are significantly more fertile due to unique ground conditions. This region, Asthenel, has a strong agricultural economy used to feed The Domuz Republic’s Llyhai colonies. The local climate is mostly preserved as local species are productive for food.

Regions

Dithas and Duela Ingredient Climates.jpg

Dithas has 8 unique ingredient climates, with one of them being a transition area between The Heabe and Dithas. This transition region, generally, is a mix between the upper heabe and Mepheisatha climate.

Mepheisatha

The region of Mepheisatha takes its name from the colony established by the Domuz people in 2641, and later made an official colony of the Domuz Republic after its re-conquest in 3235. It is a luscious and diverse region with wet topsoil and a prominent river that follows unpredictable paths that shift radically every now and then.

Mepheisatha was once home to the Dimad, but due to Domuz colonial expansion the traditional Dimad population has been displaced or integrated into the colony as citizens and workers.

Upper Dithas

The Upper Dithas, or Dithas Uchel in welsh, is a colloquial name given to the rougher regions of the Dithas. Upper Dithas regions are generally a lot more dense in their forestry and house more dangerous Vugaix creatures. The ground is significantly drier than the other regions of Dithas. To the colonial Domuz Republic, the region is generally seen as difficult to colonise due to the dense forestry, difficult agricultural practices, and hostile creatures.

Yphofthle

Yphofthle, named after the Domuz colony established in 2604 and integrated into the Domuz Republic in 3210, is another luscious, diverse, and wet region of Dithas. The climate is similar to Mepheisatha, but is seen as significantly more habitable due to a larger coastline and a stable river. Contributing to the large coastline are three islands. Yphofthle has had Domuz habitation since the 1500s, probably influenced by the presence of the islands and the Yphof Bay.

Cyrox River

The Cyrox River and the geographical region influenced by it has a few unique species of fungi that define the area. The most economically significant of these are Tynoacrethi and Hipsxegler, the former is processed into adhesives and the latter into rubber. Hipsxegler rubber is used in all manner of things from luxury shoes, sealing, military grade tents, boat repair, medicine, and the Colonial Wetsuit. Given its usefulness, Cyrox’s entire production is based on harvesting this one plant and its using a lot of the land surrounding the Cyrox river.

Cyrox Islands

The Cyrox Islands are the only known islands with only fungal plants growing there. Otherwise, the climate is quite similar to northern Cyrox.

Dithas Mountains

The Dithas Mountains are an otherwise unnamed mountainous region through central Dithas. They are thin and not really tall, but still a prominent feature. The region has unique species of fungus growing on its mild slopes. It is also pretty dry.

Wetted Coast

The Wetted Coast is a very wet and fertile region of Dithas. It supports the production of many grains and fibres in its local colony, Asthenel. It also hosts many useful magery ingredients, such as Capselith. Underneath the soil and closer to the mountains, there is also a lot of metals. Due to Domuz colonisation, many of the native Mad population have been moved or integrated. The Domuz industry has created many industrial cities and a large shipping coast.

Inner Dithas

Inner Dithas is similar to Upper Dithas, but it has a much higher population of mushroom trees. It is a bit of a plateau region and also has lots of silver ruins.

Name Origin

Dithas’s location relative to Difath of DeMoch is the northmost area, directly east of Ddole. The area is now owned by Ddole and is actually becoming fairly populous. Back in the period when Daklyn visited DeMoch, he visited went to the western islands of Dithas’s area. This is where there is a small population of Ddo. The name is taken from the Kithrali name for the Wastes - Difath, slightly morphed into Dithas.
