Ichmenre
Ichmenre is a mountain range in the eastern Wastes. It consists of 14 prominent active volcanoes amongst a harsh mountain range with hundreds of less prominent active volcanic bodies. Each of these prominent volcanoes are ‘controlled’ by a Fridnyrm. These 14 volcano lords control the lordship of The Kingdom of Ichmenre. Ichmenre is in between Duela, Kyenel, and Llyhai.
Its demographic population is the volcanic peoples. Due to their body heat, they cannot leave their communities for very long without special protection. They live luxurious lives of arts and culture, and trade exclusively with Sandcampers for normal civilisation’s cultural produce. Semi-settled traders make up a small fraction of the population.
Geography and climate
The mountain range itself is a volcanic range, defined by tall, circular peaks. The tallest of these, Hidoiad, has a peak 7000m above sea level. The smallest volcano in the range is Siwgrgwyn (have fun pronouncing that), at 3500m.
The Obsidian lake is a prominent geographical feature in the centre of Ichmenre. It is a genuine, 400m deep “lake” of obsidian glass. Its formation was likely hot magma pools being rapidly cooled by the cold air at altitude.
Name Origin
On DeMoch in Difath there is a volcanic mountain range famous for the active volcano Hidoiad. Not much was actually known about this when Daklyn went to Adal, stories generally only referred to these two facets. The name Ichmenre comes from ‘Ich Mena Re’ which translates to ‘Tall Ascend Mountain’. The name ‘Ich Mena Re’ is used in Wastelife, usually in reference to the empire controlled by the Lords of Ich Mena Re, but generally this name is shortened to Ichmenre.
