Gordolmonre

Gordolmonre is a massive mountain range in western Barogate. it stretches from Gazi Lale Darie to the end of Terlaye in Naternegorna. Its existence essentially creates the rainforest of Kyeron and the desert of Barogate’s wastes.

Most of Gordolmonre’s population is in valleys controlled by Shaikeron. Around 210,000 people live in the Basinal highland, 40,000 in Hegrel. 2,100,000 inhabitants are semi-nomadic Garas Reyens.

Geography

The mountains are around 5000m tall, with their highest peaks reaching 6000m. The westmost peaks are on average around 2000m tall.

The mountains at the top and bottom taper down into hills. In the middle of the mountain range there are two main peaks. These peaks are arranged in such a way that the west-most peaks are lower than the east-most peaks, while the west-most peaks are more consistently tall and of a harder rock compared to the east-most peaks. When water is deposited between the two peaks, it flows eastwards rather than westwards. This water eventually flows into The Heabe, creating its climate.

Gordolmonre is also home to the Difmuz, the Difmuz-lead Mountaineer culture, and the Reyens.

The basinal highland, housing Acvidaras, is around 1200m above sea level. It is a large and flat grassland with a bunch of shallow, seasonal lakes.

Name Origin

Gordolmonre is based on similar tall mountains on DeMoch that geographically cause the rain shadow of Difath. Daklyn named the mountains “Gordolmonre” because the people of Chi were calling them the “end place” in reference to the migration, where they would walk east and end at that place. “End place” is a direct translation of “gor dole”, which is where Gordol comes from. Monre is just “big mountains” since originally the word “re” meant anything between a hill and a mountain. “big mountains” is “mothanrae”, which got simplified to “monre”. Traditionally in Wastelife, Gordol refers to the lower parts of the mountains at the west while Monre refers to the larger peaks and everything east of there up until the next region. Endplace Bigmountains.
