Kyenel

Kyenel is Barogate’s large and infamous desert. Before the Everlasting War, the Vugaix was entirely a part of Kyenel. Kusao, Cronar, and Vugaix are part of the desert, but not the region.

Spanning the entirety of Kyenel, from Ichmenre to Sarel, is the Obsidian Road. It’s both a trade route and a literal 12m-wide road paved with obsidian pebbles. It was built by volcanics and the Nyrmish.

Geography

Kyenel is a desert of pure sand. Not a single rockface pokes out in its vastness. Rocks do begin to poke up around Ichmenre and Kusao.

Kyenel’s main plateau is 1200m above sea level. This plateau has gentle slopes raising up to it from each side. Ichmenre is the only neighbouring region higher.

Fauna

Character Animal: Vulture

The Vulture represents survival in Kyenel, sight of one is a good omen as it means a fallen giant is nearby, which is a place of truce and feast for all animals as long as there is still plentiful food left.

Name Origin

‘Kyenel’ as a name chosen by Daklyn actually has no origin. Daklyn just made up the name to describe the desert. ‘Desert’ in Gazish is ‘nihal’ which isn’t even close.
